Hey everyone! Today is a great day for donuts! So we are headed to Chicken Butt Donuts in Chapin South Carolina
In my travels, I started hearing about this magical place that was so good, it ran out of their donuts by 11:00 every morning. They would then close up shop, and live their lives to their fullest! This is my dream job right there, work for a few hours, and earn enough money for a full days’ work!
It is something that I love about little mom and pop stores, buying from them really impacts their lives for good!
Ok, So back to this store
CHICKEN BUTT DONUTS.
Since I do travel a lot for my work, my 4 year old son sometimes misses me. It is at those times that I will promise him anything on the phone to make him happy again. (i’m a sucker that way).
So one day I told him over the phone that I wanted to take him to a donut place. Really, that was all I needed to say. I could hear him giggling through the phone at the idea of eating donuts. Don’t we all?
But the I told him the name. I said “Guess what? it’s called CHICKEN BUTT! donuts.”
“What?!” He squeeled! “So I can have chicken butt sprinkle donuts?. . . and chocolate chicken butt donuts?” He laughed and laughed and laughed about the name. I’m pretty proud about his sense of humor.
So then for the next three weeks, he would remind me that I was going to take him to chicken butt donuts.
Well, finally on the Fourth Of July, I took the family early in the morning, to Chicken Butt Donuts to celebrate our freedom.
The place was way more off of the beaten path than we thought. GPS made it look like we were pulling into a barber shop. . . But it was right there!

How it works is pretty simple. They have their specialty donuts already made. Like Red Velvet, Blueberry, Cream cheese filling, etc.
Then they can make the basic donut right on the spot, and then you just order what glaze and toppings you want on them.
Since we had never been there before, they suggested that they make up the box of dozen with all of the favorites. We were happy with that, so we got a box full of fresh and warm donuts, mixed with cold specialty donuts.
We cut each donut into quarters so the whole fam could try each donut.
Review of the actual Chicken Butt Donuts
First off, can donuts ever NOT be DELICIOUS? No. So when I say anything negative, you have to know that it is still freakin’ good.
Overall We thought that the donuts warm were better than cold (obviously). 3 out 5 donut holes!
We thought the peanut butter was WAY TOO MUCH peanut butter. That was the last donut to be completely eaten for a reason.
The blueberry donuts tasted like blueberry pancake mix pancakes. So Meh.
The cream cheese donuts were a different filling than I’ve ever had before. It was more cream cheese than sugar, and pretty dense. But I kinda liked it
Red Velvet would have been better warm.
Maple Bacon was the absolute best! The bacon was perfectly crispy, and warm.
Fruity Pebble and Sprinkles were a big hit with the kids.
The experience was really fun, customer service was excellent, but in the end, the hype was better than the actual donut.
But of course, all donuts are worth a road trip!
